The Fiegl family has cultivated vineyards in Oslavia since 1782, when Valentino F a iegl signed the bill of purchase on a vineyard called “Meja”. Since then, their aim has been to transmit the unique terroir of their region, primarily through the use of indigenous varieties and traditional blends.
Soils in Gorizia are very challenging for agriculture, however the high level of mineral salts is ideal for old vines. Fiegl works with 30 hectares of vineyards with an average of 500 plants per hectare. Almost all of the viticultural work is performed manually – a necessity due to the steepness of their vineyards – with treatments kept to a reasonable minimum.
