The oldest bitter liqueur in Calabria
It all began in Calabria, a few years after the unification of Italy, in 1864, with Raffaello Bosco, who was steeping medicinal herbs collected at the foot of the Sila in his basement, experimenting with new formulas and recipes. Between experiments, and thanks in part to his travels abroad, he came across a wild plant from the Aloeaceae family: Aloe Ferox. Upon returning to Calabria, he had the intuition to add it to his mixture, forever changing its flavor and thus writing the first chapter of a story that has lasted over 150 years:
